TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME, TAKE ME OUT TO THE GAME
We are thrilled to show this as our first film of the 2021/2022 season.
"Heading Home” charts the underdog journey of Israel's national baseball team competing for the first time in the World Baseball Classic. After years of defeat, Team Israel is finally ranked among the world's best in 2017, eligible to compete in the prestigious international tournament. Their line-up included several Jewish American Major League players―Ike Davis, Josh Zeid and ex-Braves catcher Ryan Lavarnway―most with a tenuous relationship to Judaism, let alone having ever set foot in Israel. Their odyssey takes them from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem where they are greeted as heroes, to Seoul where they must debunk their has-been, wannabe reputations. With their Mensch on the Bench mascot by their side, the team laughs, cries, and does much soul-searching, discovering the pride of representing Israel on the world stage." Suitable for kids who like baseball!!!!
We are planning a fun-filled evening. It will be a chance to socialize in a safe way and say hello after a year and a half. Kids can meet before starting back to Religious School which starts the next day. Jeanna will be registering children right there. Brotherhood and Sisterhood will be signing up members, and those new to the Congregation will be introduced.
It will be outdoor picnic style and will have tables set up. You are welcome to bring your blankets or comfortable chairs.
Dinner will be baseball fare: hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chips, soda and hot drinks, cracker jacks, popcorn, and ice cream. BYO wine and beer. If you want a vegan burger, please request it when making a reservation.
Dinner will start at 6 pm, followed by a Havdalah service at sunset and then the film which will probably be around 7:15 pm. Hopefully, the film will be set up outside.
