The Fresno Jewish Film Series Committee proudly announces another successful year for the 2021-2022 season. Though the pandemic forced us to transition online for a second year, it enabled us to expand our audience to the greater Jewish and non-Jewish community. We watched nine incredible movies and held insightful and thoughtful discussions online. Like many other Film Series around the world, we resorted to an online video streaming service. We used Kanopy.com because it is a free on-demand streaming video platform provided by public libraries and universities. Its accessibility allowed us to have participants tune into our Zoom discussions from both the Los Angeles area and the Bay Area.
We were fortunate to have shown three in-person films. We opened and ended our season with an outdoor BBQ dinner and served an Italian cuisine with the second to last film. Having dinner before the films allowed us to develop a comfortable social setting and mingle with our friends whom we have seen for the past two years on Zoom. We had such positive feedback that we have decided to continue to serve a dinner for every film showing in-person for this upcoming season. Our dinner theme will be a Jewish cuisine drawn from different cultures, such as the Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions.
As we move forward to the 2022-23 season and celebrate our 20th year, we will continue to offer films both on Kanopy and in-person. Beginning in late summer we will provide you with a brand new schedule of films and their venues. You'll find all the trailers and links on our Trailer page as well as the links to join our film discussions on Zoom.
We would like to thank each and everyone of you for your ongoing support. Please invite friends and family to join us.
